| Its classed as a sci-fi/fantasy series, that is now a top tv/cab;e programme in the US.
Books are known as the Sword of Truth Series
Debt of Bones (2001) (prequel of sorts) 1. Wizard's First Rule (1994) 2. Stone of Tears (1995) 3. Blood of the Fold (1996) 4. Temple of the Winds (1997) 5. Soul of the Fire (1999) 6. Faith of the Fallen (2000) 7. The Pillars of Creation (2001) 8. Naked Empire (2003) 9. Chainfire (2005) 10. Phantom (2006) 11. Confessor (2007)
I have only read the first one and part of the second one and I love it!!
blurb for the Wizards First Rule
One man, Richard Cypher, holds the key to the fate of three nations, of humanityBut until he learns the Wizard's First Rule his chances of succeeding in his task are slim. And his biggest problem is admitting that magic exists at all...A novel of incomparable scope and brimming with atmospheric detail: in a world where heart hounds stalk the boundaries for unwary human prey, blood-sucking flies hunt on behalf of their underworld masters, and where artists can draw more than your likeness, there is no place to hide, nowhere safe. Here magic makes love twice as sweet, betrayal and loss twice as bitter.
The TV series is called the legend of the seeker

| I "THINK" that I've read Soul of Fire but I'm not for sure, probably have to read it again to be sure but I'll be sure to start with the Wizard's First Rule first. | |

| Don't forget about "Debt of Bones" the 'prequel' to The Sword of Truth series. Just a short little story about Zedd when he was younger. =)
omg...I would love to get the series on audio too! Who's the reader? Omg...it would be sooo chilling to hear it, even more so than when reading it! *shiver*
Books 1 and 2 are awesome...3, 4, 5 kinda get a little dry...but then Faith of the Fallen is amazing until the end of the series with Confessor...which was...OMG O_O *swoon*

| Yes, the Law of Nines isn't part of the series, but is connected in a way. We have a descendant of Richard in present time. It was amaaazing and I loved it.
Right now it's still only in hardcover, since it just came out last fall, I think. But craaazy good. haha

| I saw it at B&N .com for 6 bucks. I got creeped out when I read it. If Jax is a descendant of Jensen and her husband and Alex is from Kahlan and Richard then aren't they like cousins? Jensen and Richard are brother and sister.

| how many generations have passed? Alex is like thousands of years after Richard and Kahlan, when magic in the world was only myth and such. isn't it? it's been months since I read it, but I'm pretty sure they are no longer anywhere near first cousins. | |
